Am I the only one struggling to adapt to the changing media landscape?

Diligently learning the vagaries of a million interfaces, hesitantly clicking tabs leading to unknown destinations and consequences, we’re now faced with the Zuckerberg Challenge of F8.

What’s the point of investing in new learning on new platforms if they are eternally fluid?

Back to the Dashboard for me.

We are privileged to tour Western Canada in our thirty year old van, meeting awesome people and seeing amazing sights.  We’ve just finished our 80th show.  Looking forward to songwriting in the fall.

Tell us about your experience of playing bass.  Have you tried the stick bass?  Do you have a bull fiddle?  Do you use a bow?

Concert goers often ask us about that weird looking instrument that our bassist is playing on stage.  You’re probably seeing her “stick bass”, which is the model that we bring on tour.  Andrea plays an upright bass in the recording studio, or for local area gigs, (aka double bass, contra bass, bull fiddle).  However, that instrument is just too big to bring on tour, especially whilst living in a small van.

Andrea’s stick bass is made by Yamaha, model SLB 200.  The bottom pin comes out, the hip and shoulders detach, so it magically shrinks.  But it’s still heavy and unweildy.

Most importantly, we are happy with the sound of the Yamaha electric stick bass.  After years of research, we find it’s still the closest sound to the warmth of the acoustic wooden bass.

Now we just have to deal with the grand piano.

We continue to be inspired in our songwriting.  In fact, everywhere we go, everyone we meet, seems to manifest us with the gift of lyric.  Awesome.
